Top four seeds advance in Region 4B


MADISON – The top four seeds advanced in the Region 4B volleyball playoffs on Tuesday night in Madison.

No. 1 Chester Area beat Oldham-Ramona/Rutland 25-14, 25-7, 25-16.

No. 2 Ethan defeated Hanson 25-18, 25-18, 25-13.

No. 3 Elkton-Lake Benton swept Howard by the set scores of 25-20, 25-11, 25-20.

No. 4 Colman-Egan posted a 19-25, 25-15, 25-8, 25-14 victory over Sanborn Central/Woonsocket.

The semifinals are Thursday back in Madison as the Flyers (22-7) and Hawks (22-8) square off at 5 p.m. and the Rustlers (25-6) take on the Lady Elks (24-7) after that.

 Elkton-Lake Benton 3, Howard 0

Hannah Krog recorded 18 kills, 14 digs and a block to lead the Lady Elks.

Aubrey Wirth added 10 kills and two blocks (one solo).

Kailyn Drietz contributed six kills, a block assist and a pair of digs. Emily Miller chipped in with five kills and two digs.

Julia Drietz guided the offense with 36 set assists and Rachael Krog paced the defense with 21 digs. Brooklyn Nielsen added three kills, 16 digs and a service ace. Jesse Busselman had 15 digs and an ace.

 Colman-Egan 3, Sanborn Central/Woonsocket 1

Braiden Westley led the Hawks with 10 kills, eight blocks, three ace serves and 11 digs.

Mackenzie Hemmer added eight kills and seven blocks.

Olivia Baumberger totaled seven kills, six blocks, an ace and eight digs. Elizabeth Moore also tallied seven kills to go with 15 digs.

Jordan Wittrock (18) and Kennedi Landis (9) combined for 27 set assists. Wittrock added a pair of aces.

 Chester Area 3, Oldham-Ramona/Rutland 0

The Flyers’ Breckyn Ewoldt recorded eight kills and Makenna Larson added seven.

Kenna Brown dished out 27 set assists and netted seven aces. Larson came up with 15 digs, Brown 14 and Bri Backus 12.

Peyton Brown netted three aces and Hailey Bleeker tallied three blocks.

For the Raiders (8-18), Maddy Eich had five kills and Alivia Spilde added four.

Khloe Tieman had 14 assists and Kylie Anderson notched 12 digs, with Sine Matson adding eight. Julia Trygstad had a pair of blocks and Breckyn Leighton added an ace.
