ELMHURST, Ill. – South Dakota State freshman Teresa Toscano was named The Summit League Women's Golfer of the Week Wednesday by the league office.
Toscano won her first collegiate title and helped the Jackrabbits to their fourth title this season March 10-11, capturing the 8th annual Jackrabbit Invitational crown. She shot a one-under par 71 in the final round to set the school record for 54 holes (73-68-71=212) by two strokes. The rookie collected 11 birdies for the tournament.
The Huelva, Spain, native is second on the team and fifth in The Summit League with a 74.70 stroke average. Toscano has a team-leading six rounds at or below par. The rookie also has four top-five and five top-10 finishes.
Three Jackrabbits-senior Islamiah Fuad (Feb. 15), senior Megan Mingo (Mar. 8) and Toscano (Mar. 15)-have been named The Summit League Women's Golfers of the Week this spring. Mingo and senior Hallie Getz were named Summit League Women's Golfers of the Month for September and November, respectively.
