Toscano ties for 3rd, SDSU fifth at Aggie Invitational

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Teresa Toscano tied for third and the South Dakota State women’s golf team finished fifth in the New Mexico State Aggie Invitational, which concluded Wednesday.

The Jackrabbits shot 307 Monday, 293 Tuesday and 299 Wednesday for an 899 total.

The host Aggies won with a 54-hole score of 3-under-par 861 (296-281-284).

It was a tight race for second.

Utah Valley was runner-up at 893 (309-295-289), UTEP was third at 894 (302-298-294) and Northern Arizona was fourth at 898 (296-300-302). California Baptist ended up sixth with a 902 (305-302-295) total.

NMSU’s Amelia McKee was medalist, shooting 5-under 211 (75-67-69). Teammate Dominique Galloway was second at 1-under 215 (71-72-72)

Toscano fired rounds of 70, 74 and 72 for an even-par 216 total.

The senior made 10 birdies, eight bogeys and a double-bogey in the event.

The Miners’ Audrey Haddad (70-71-75) tied her for third.

SDSU’s Cassidy Laidlaw tied for 19th with a 226 (78-72-76) total. Lani Potter (82-74-72) and Mia Seeman (77-73-79) posted scores of 228 and 229 to tie for 27th and 29th, respectively. Sydney Bormann tied for 73rd at 239 (84-77-78).

Seventeen teams and 100 individuals competed in the tourney.

SDSU wraps up the fall season with the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown on Oct. 27-29 in Boulder City, Nevada.
