VOLGA – The Clark Traders overcame an early 5-0 deficit to defeat the Volga Cormorants, 9-8, on Sunday afternoon.
Clark pitchers gave up 10 quick walks to put themselves in an early hole, but came back to plate nine runs over the next four innings and held the ‘Rants to three.
Zach Toben pitched 4 2/3 innings of relief to earn the win and Brent Griffith tossed the final three frames to earn the save.
Josh Nelson took the loss for the Cormorants after throwing the final three innings.
Lane Hovde led the Traders with three hits as Jay Huber added a pair of singles. Toben and Nate Harrington drove in a pair of runs.
Volga got a pair of hits from Adam Vaux while Brady Will chipped in with a double.
The Cormorants will play host to the Brookings Cubs on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Hoff Field.
