BROOKINGS – A transducer was stolen near the Lake Poinsett Recreation Area boat ramp over the weekend, according to the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.

The theft was reported at 1:20 p.m. Tuesday, Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring said.

The transducer was stolen off a boat for a Lowrance HDS 9 depth finder, he said.

“The theft occurred on Sunday between the hours of 7:30 and 8 p.m. as the boat and trailer were briefly parked at the boat landing. When the owner of the boat returned, he noticed that someone had cut the cable and removed the transducer,” Sebring said.

The cost of the transducer is $500, he added.
