Trent Francom posts career high in pole vault

VERMILLION – The South Dakota State track and field team took to the University of South Dakota for the USD Early Bird.

Trent Francom flew to the nation’s fifth-best pole vault mark. SDSU’s school record holder in the event cleared a career-high 18 feet, 5 inches to tie USD’s Ethan Bray.

Sam Coil recorded a hammer throw of 201-3 1/2 for the second-best mark in SDSU history, 

On the women’s side, Jaymie O’Connor posted a time of 14.03 seconds to win the 100-meter hurdles.

Reid Pierzinski clocked a 52.69 for first in the men’s 400-meter hurdles and his time marks the fastest in the Summit League this season.
