Truck raffle raising funds for club

BROOKINGS – The Boys & Girls Club is hosting its ninth annual Truck Raffle with tickets sold until June 1.

Each ticket costs $100, and only 1,000 tickets will be sold. Prizes include three $1,000 cash prizes, several early bird prizes, and a grand prize 2019 Ram 1500.

Early bird prizes will be drawn each Friday of the week leading up to the grand prize drawing on June 12. Tickets are due by 11:59 p.m. Thursday to be eligible for early bird prize drawings on Friday. Names will be re-entered after winning an early bird prize, meaning the earlier ticket holders enter, the more chances they have to win.

Boys & Girls Club of Brookings first opened its doors in 2003 with 40 members. In 2018, the club served over 2,500 youth providing a safe and positive place after school and in the summer. The club continues to serve the youth and families in Brookings, especially during the many snow days the community has had this year.

“When the community comes together to buy 1,000 truck raffle tickets to support the club, it’s easy to remember why I am in this line of work,” Executive Director Chelsea Lang said. “Each person purchasing a ticket has the chance to win a truck and multiple early bird prizes, but most just want to give to support our youth. One membership is $25, so a $100 truck raffle ticket could pay for four kids to have a place to go for the entire year. The support we receive during this event truly inspires our youth to be giving and selfless.”

Tickets may be purchased from the club, club board, committee, or staff members, Einspahr Auto Plaza, Hy-Vee, Medary Acres, Dacotah Bank, Brookings Radio, or online at the club website, greatfuturessd.org.

The grand prize drawing will be held June 12 at the Teen Center. The event will include games, face painting, a bouncy house, and a free meal. The grand prize will be drawn first, followed by the three cash prizes. Ticket holders do not need to be present to win.
