Two hit-and-runs reported in county last week

BROOKINGS – Two hit-and-run accidents were reported last week, one in White and one in Bushnell, according to the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.

The accident in White was reported at 3:30 p.m. Thursday and occurred in the 400 block of East Main Street in White, Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring said.

It occurred sometime between 9:30 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30 a.m. Thursday, he said.

“An unknown vehicle had struck the garage door, which is on an unattached shed to the west of the residence. The cost to repair the shed door is estimated at $2,205,” Sebring said. 

The accident in Bushnell was reported at 6:50 p.m. Saturday and occurred at 47814 Stangland St. It occurred sometime between Saturday and when it was noticed Sunday, Sebring said.

“It was found that an unknown vehicle was traveling westbound on Stangland Street and went off the road and struck the antique wheel and fence,” Sebring said.

“The suspect vehicle is believed to be white in color as there was paint transfer left at the scene,” he added.

“The damage is estimated at $800,” Sebring said.
