ARLINGTON – Two drivers were injured in a rollover collision on Friday, according to the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.

The accident was reported at 3:20 p.m. Friday and occurred at Highway 81 and 203rd Street, about 5 miles north of Arlington, Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring said.

Sandra Sue Meylor, 59, of Estelline, was driving a 2011 Ford Focus north on Highway 81. Cynthia Charlene Converse, 63, of Arlington, was driving a 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix and also traveling north on Highway 81, Sebring said.

“(Converse) turned its blinker on and was in the process of turning east onto 203rd Street from Highway 81. (Meylor) did not see the blinker of (the Pontiac) on and collided with (the Pontiac),” Sebring said.

“(The Ford) then rolled and came to rest upright in the northeast corner of the intersection,” Sebring said.

“Meylor was transported to the Brookings hospital by the Arlington Ambulance with unknown injuries,” Sebring said. “Converse was transported to the hospital by a private party with unknown injuries.”

The Ford sustained an estimated $10,000 worth of damage, and the Pontiac sustained an estimated $7,000 worth of damage, he said.

Meylor was issued a citation for careless driving, and following too closely, Sebring added.

Also responding were the Arlington Fire Department, South Dakota Highway Patrol and Kingsbury County Sheriff’s Office.

The accident is under investigation with the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.
