Two Jackrabbits in top 20 at NMSU; SDSU men finish 13th


LAS CRUCES, N.M. – South Dakota State’s Teresa Toscano and Mia Seeman are both in the top 20 and the Jackrabbits sit in 13th in the team standings following the second round of the New Mexico State Aggie Invitational on Tuesday at the 6,392-yard, par-72 NMSU Golf Course.

UTEP (290) leads the way with a 36-hole tally of 4-over-par 580. The host Aggies (299) are second at 596, Utah Valley (298) sits in third with a 597 total, California Baptist (304) is fourth at 598 and Fresno State (302) is fifth at 599.

The Jackrabbits shot a 312 in Round 2 and are in 13th with a 612 total.

The Miners’ Valeria Mendizabal (71) leads the way individually at 4-under 140. UTEP’s Lily Downs (71), NMSU’s Dominique Galloway (72), Utah Valley’s Nathalie Irlbacher (71) and Southern Utah’s Chanikan (Pluem) Yongyuan (143) are tied for second at 1-under 143.

Toscano carded a second-round 74 and is tied for 15th at 148. Seeman fired a 78 Tuesday and is tied for 18th at 149.

Sydney Bormann (78) is tied for 49th at 155, Lani Potter (82) is tied for 70th at 160 and Cassidy Laidlaw (85) is tied for 84th at 167.

Competing as an individual, Sydney Wirebaugh (91) is tied for 88th with a 170 total.

The event concludes today.

Men

COLLEGE GROVE, Tenn. – South Dakota State closed with a 322 and finished 13th with a 54-hole score of 936 in the Intercollegiate at the Grove, which concluded Tuesday at the 7,368-yard, par-72 The Grove Club.

Liberty (282) won with a 15-under-par 849 total. South Florida (288) was second at 12-under 852 and Purdue (285) finished third at 11-under 853.

The Flames’ Gabe Lench (70) and Alexandre Fuchs (72) both finished at 8-under 208. The Boilermakers’ Timmy Hildebrand (70) and Ole Miss’ Beau Briggs (71) tied for third at 7-under 209.

The Jackrabbits’ Jacob Otta (81) tied for 42nd at 224, Jared Nicolls (79) tied for 48th at 226, Alejandro Perazzo (80) took 70th at 238, Harry Duggan (82) was 76th at 248 and Jaxon Lynn (91) ended up 77th at 263.
