USD sweeps SDSU for 21st win in a row

VERMILLION – South Dakota defeated South Dakota State 25-22, 25-17, 25-11 in a Summit League volleyball match Tuesday.

The Coyotes (24-1, 13-0) pushed their winning streak to 21 matches – the fourth longest streak in conference history. Their 16 consecutive league victories rank seventh all-time.

USD’s Elizabeth Juhnke racked up 20 kills.

Madison Harms had 10 kills and 3 1/2 blocks (one solo). Elizabeth Loschen added 11 kills and a block. Sami Slaughter chipped in with six kills and a pair of blocks.

Madison Jurgens guided the offense with 45 set assists and came up with 13 digs. Anne Rasmussen paced the defense with 22 digs and Lolo Weideman notched 14 digs.

The Jackrabbits’ Crystal Burk had 10 kills, a block assist and 13 digs. Makenzie Hennen also tallied 10 kills.

Tori Thompson contributed six kills and a solo block, while Ashlynn Smith recorded four kills and 1 1/2 blocks.

Maddie Fay (15) and Carly Wedel (11) combined for 26 set assists. Tatum Pickar came up with 10 digs.

SDSU (6-19, 3-10) plays at North Dakota on Sunday at 1 p.m. in Grand Forks.
