Utility projects to affect parts of downtown Brookings starting Sept. 18

Alley access, parking limited
BROOKINGS — Utility work that is expected to start Monday in downtown Brookings will affect vehicle travel as some parking and alley access will be closed.
NorthWestern Energy’s gas projects will impact the north end of the alley along Fifth Street between Main Avenue and Third Avenue, along with the alley between Main Avenue and Fifth Avenue.
According to a news release from NorthWestern Energy, through traffic along Fifth Street shouldn’t be impacted, but alley travel in that area will not have access through the north end. Furthermore, some parking along the south side of Fifth Street will be blocked off for equipment to perform work.
The projects should completed no later than Sept. 22. If there are questions, call NorthWestern Energy at 1-800-245-6977.
