BROOKINGS – An SUV hit a motorcycle Wednesday afternoon, according to the Brookings Police.
The accident was reported about 3 p.m. and occurred in the 700 block of 22nd Avenue South, said Assistant Chief Derrick Powers.
Marie Ivers, 48, of Brookings was driving a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe and was pulling out of a parking lot.
“(She) pulled out in front of the motorcycle and they collided,” Powers said.
Wayne Freyberg, 71, of Brookings, was driving a 1984 Honda Goldwing motorcycle southbound on 22nd Avenue South when he was struck.
An ambulance responded to the scene to check on Freyberg, but he was not transported, Powers said.
Powers did not have a damage estimate, noting that the accident report was not yet complete. Neither vehicle was towed.
He did not know whether Freyberg was wearing a helmet.
