Vehicle total loss in fire near Bruce

BRUCE – A vehicle was deemed a total loss after a fire near Bruce Saturday, according to the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.

The fire was reported at 5 p.m. Saturday and occurred at 462nd Avenue and 206th Street in rural Bruce, Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring said.

“It was found that the driver had stopped the vehicle as he noticed the odor of smoke. They exited the vehicle and found flames coming from the rear of the 2003 Chevy Trailblazer they were driving,” Sebring said.

“The vehicle became fully engulfed in flames,” he said.

“The Volga Fire Department extinguished the flames, but the vehicle was a complete loss. The cause of the fire is unknown,” Sebring said.

The fire is under investigation with the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.
