BROOKINGS – Brookings Police are looking for whoever broke out the windows on several vehicles, some of which look like they were shot out.

The first was reported about 9 p.m. Saturday and occurred in the 700 block of Brooklawn Drive to a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix, said Lt. Derrick Powers.

“It had its back window shot out; also the sunroof was damaged on this vehicle,” he said.

The next one was reported Monday morning. Damaged was a 1999 Ford Ranger in the 700 block of Brooklawn Drive.

“Its back window had been vandalized; believe it was shot out with a BB gun,” Powers said.

Another one reported Monday morning was a 2002 GMC Sierra that was damaged in the 500 block of Sixth Avenue South.

“The back window of the pick-up was shot out,” Powers said.

Also on Monday, another vehicle was vandalized in the 500 block of Fifth Street South.

“A 2000 Volkswagon had the rear window damaged, believed to be by a BB gun,” Powers said.

Another report of a damaged vehicle came in Monday evening, concerning a 2003 GMC Yukon in the 500 block of Eighth Avenue. Powers said the owners thought the Yukon might have been hit by a lawnmower.

“I don’t know if this was related to the others,” he said.

“We occasionally get people who do these things,” Powers said. “We did have some (similar cases) leading into last summer that remain unsolved.”
