October Third Sunday
The October nonprofit organization to receive funds from the VFW Auxiliary Third Sunday Breakfast was the Rolling Thunder, Chapter 2, Brookings. Members were at the breakfast to help serve and to visit with people attending the event.
The Rolling Thunder officers had submitted their application to be considered as one of the nonprofit organizations last June.
The VFW Auxiliary considers any nonprofit organization application. The group must complete a statement of need and ways in which they will advertise and help members of the community. If you would like to be considered as a nonprofit, contact Jan Olson, 1024 Ninth Ave., Apt 108, Brookings, 57006.
Third Sunday November
The GAP (Great Afternoon Place) participated in the VFW Auxiliary Third Sunday Breakfast in November. The GAP program has been a child care service in Brookings for over a decade.
The Third Sunday Breakfast provides an opportunity to local nonprofits to participate by serving and visiting with breakfast-goers. The VFW Auxiliary prepares the breakfast menu and is proud to give the profits to service organizations in the area.
The GAP group received a check for $575.
