Virgil Anderson, 75, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2020, at Riverview HealthCare Center, Flandreau, SD.
A drive-through visitation will take place at Rude’s Funeral Home on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2020 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The family asks that social distancing and masks are used. The public will be allowed to enter Rude’s Funeral Home to view Virgil’s memorial. The family will hold a private burial service at a later date.
He was born in Estelline, SD, on Aug. 16, 1945. He was raised solely by his mother Luella Anderson. Virgil was married to Dottie Burckhard and had two daughters: Candie and Nikki and two step daughters that he thought of as his own, Kristi and Robin. Virgil joined the U.S. Army when he was 20 years old and was stationed in Germany.
Virgil always loved cars and pursued a career being a mechanic. He owned two repair and tire businesses in Brookings, SD until the day he retired. He restored many old cars and belonged to the Brookings Car Club.
He is survived by; his daughters: Candie (Darin) Christensen of Volga, SD, Nikki (Brett) Holley of Apple Valley, CA, Kristi Olson of Apple Valley, CA and Robin (Mike) Brown of Fairfield, CA; nine grandchildren: Tyler (Courtney) Christensen of Lake Albert, SD, Micah Christensen of Sioux Falls, SD, Jace Christensen of Volga, SD, Jordan Holley of Apple Valley, CA, Gavin Holley of Apple Valley, CA, Katie Polson of Apple Valley, CA, Krystal (Nate) Aguirre of Apple Valley, CA, Courtney Brown of Fairfield, CA, Trevor Brown of Fairfield, CA; four great-grandkids: Nash, Jade, Mattie and Ethan; five siblings: Ardis Geringer of Brookings, SD, Shirley (Alvin) Henry of Arlington, SD, Alona Lewellen of Miller, SD, Janice (Ken) VanDerWerff of Casa Grande, AZ, Darla Ness of Brookings, SD; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by; his mother, Luella Anderson; brother, Mervin Anderson; sister, Lorraine Rasmussen.
