BROOKINGS – Visit Brookings, formerly known as the Brookings Convention and Visitors Bureau, has moved. The new location is 1321 Sixth St., positioning the office in a high-traffic area to better serve its customers. Staff moved last week and formally opened at their new location Tuesday.
“When we started looking at possible locations, we were hoping to find something near the hotels and attractions and also in a place where visitors can find us,” Visit Brookings Executive Director Laura Schoen Carbonneau said. “Our new office helps us achieve those goals and we are excited to open our doors.”
Visit Brookings shares the new office with the Brookings Area Chamber of Commerce. Visit Brookings occupies the east half of the building, while the Chamber occupies the west half. Each organization has separate entrances, and signage will be installed to help direct guests. The middle of the building will serve as a Visitor Information Center. There is also a board room, smaller meeting rooms, a work area and storage room.
“This process has been a great partnership between our staff, the Chamber and Seth Skogen, the building owner,” Schoen Carbonneau said. “We worked together on some of the design ideas and our staff spent a few days cleaning and painting so we could stay on schedule.”
Schoen Carbonneau said while the office is open, there are still a few finishing touches to be completed. The exterior will be landscaped and painted soon, followed by signage installed inside and outside of the building. A ribbon cutting will be scheduled once the final items are complete.
