HUMBOLDT – Post 114 put up three runs in the sixth inning to rally to a 7-5 win over Humboldt/Hartford in American Legion baseball action on Monday night.
Volga led 4-2 through 2 1/2 innings before the home team rallied to tie the game at 4-4 with a two-run third, and then added a single run in the fifth to take the lead.
Both teams finished with seven hits as Collin Vander Wal hit a double for Volga and Aaron Mallinger matched that for Post 62.
Trevor Olson earned the win on the mound as the lefty gave up five runs – three earned – on seven hits and three walks with seven strikeouts in six innings of work.
Carter Vander Wal tossed the seventh and struck out one to pick up the save.
Tyler Schwartz finished with two hits and a pair of RBIs for Post 114 as Matt Larson contributed a pair of base hits and drove in one. Cole Gross added an RBI single.
Justin Sebert (3) and Brandon McKnight (4) combined for H/H as McKnight was saddled with the loss after giving up four runs.
Volga plays host to Madison on Thursday in a single game starting at 7 p.m. at Hoff Field.
