BROOKINGS – The building that houses Brookings Area United Way located at 619 Fifth Ave. got a fresh coat of paint on Saturday, Oct. 10.

Banner Associates led a group of volunteers in painting the building including members of ASCE, Habitat for Humanity family members, and community members. With 14 volunteers all jumping in, the whole project was completed in under four hours.

“Banner reached out wanting to help us in a unique way and through a partnership with the building’s landlord, we were able to receive a month’s free rent for the efforts that Banner led. Volunteering is so important in our community, and one way that can be seen is through Banner’s initiatives. The community supports United Way in various ways, not only monetary, but also their volunteerism,” said Heidi Gullickson, executive director of Brookings Area United Way.
