Volunteers sought 05-14-19

BROOKINGS – Sarah Lippert, Brookings volunteer connections coordinator for the Helpline Center, recently announced the following opportunities for area residents to become more involved in the community through volunteering.

See volunteering needs below:

• Stage set up volunteers for Fire and Ice Gala

• Auction item program prep volunteers

Brookings Arts Council, Summer Arts Festival face painters

The Brookings Arts Council needs volunteers to paint wearable art on the faces of children at the Brookings Summer Arts Festival on July 13 and 14.

The Brookings Arts Council considers this event one of their biggest fundraisers to help support local art in the Brookings community. Volunteers are provided with a binder of 10 large and 10 small pre-approved designs, and therefore should not be required to come up with a design on the spot. All supplies are provided; volunteers just need to bring the talent.

Brookings Regional Humane Society, shelter volunteer

Brookings Regional Humane Society provides a safe and loving haven for a variety of animals while they wait for their forever home.

As you can imagine the shelter gets a little dirty. The organization is seeking volunteers to sweep, scoop litter boxes, wash windows, do laundry and dishes and interact with our animals. These volunteers are a vital part of the Humame Society’s mission and are greatly appreciated.

Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, CF Foundation Great Strides Brookings 5K

Brookings 2019 Great Strides provides a great opportunity for people within the community to get involved in a great cause. Participants can form walk teams at their workplace, through their clubs and organizations, or with friends and family.

Walk day is a fun, family-oriented event with a beautiful 5K walk, children’s activities, food, and festivities that participants look forward to year after year.

The organization needs volunteers to help with the following tasks:

• Set-up the walk site

• Stake the route

• Hand out breakfast/lunch items

• Help with registration

• Help serve lunch

• Help with tear down
