BROOKINGS – Michael Walsh, an associate professor in South Dakota State University’s School of Performing Arts, will perform several solo works during his faculty recital at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 16 in the Lincoln Music Center’s Peterson Recital Hall.
The first half of the recital features Carl Maria von Weber’s “Concertino” for clarinet and piano and Donald Martino’s “A Set for Clarinet.” Walsh will be accompanied by colleagues Aaron Ragsdale, percussion; Mary Walker, piano; and Tammy Yonce, flute.
The recital’s second half features chamber music about dogs and frogs.
Walsh is a founding member of the Miami Clarinet Quartet, served as the principal clarinet of the American Wind Symphony Orchestra from 2006-2008 and performed on recordings of new music by Matt Zachary Johnson in “Tribute and Portrait of a Woman” as a bass clarinetist for the MZJ Chamber Ensemble in New York.
