Wanda Lokken - White

Wanda Lokken, 83, of White, died Friday, June 1, 2018, at the Hendricks Hospital.  

Memorial services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday  at Our Savior Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brookings. Burial is in Fairview Cemetery at White.  

Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Eidsness Funeral Chapel in White and also one hour prior to the services at the church on Wednesday.   

Wanda Lou Lokken was born April 1, 1935, in Brookings County, to Donald and Esther (Pierce) Ibach.  

She attended District 62 Oaklake Township School from grades 1-8 and then graduated from White High School in 1953.  

On May 23, 1953, Wanda married Herbert Paul Lokken in Hendricks, Minnesota, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.  

The couple moved to White in 1965, where Wanda lived until the time of her death.  

Wanda was employed by South Dakota State University in the Residential Life department.  She retired in October of 1999.  

Wanda was a member of Our Savior Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brookings.  She volunteered with the Ladies Aide at Church, as well as serving as the secretary and president of the White Ambulance. Wanda volunteered as an EMT for the White Ambulance for 23 years.  

She loved crocheting, knitting, playing cards and fishing.   

Survivors include her husband, Herbert of White; children, Russell of Brookings, Cynthia Stoebner of Sioux Falls, Paul (Patti) of North Mankato, Minnesota, Dawn (Steve) McCarthy of Brookings, and Donald of White; siblings, Eugene Ibach of Pierre and Merlin Ibach of Arizona; son-in-law, Neil King of Valley Springs; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.  

Wanda was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathy King; grandson, Andrew McCarthy; and brothers, Leonard, Wendell and Clifton.
