Watertown White Sox sweep Bombers Gray

BROOKINGS – The Watertown White Sox swept the Bombers Gray in a doubleheader Friday evening at Mickelson Field, winning 11-0 in five innings and 12-7 in six innings.

Brookings (6-13) returns to action Monday, July 16, with another home twinbill versus Harrisburg.

Game 1

• Watertown 11, Brookings 0 (5 inn.)

Connor Hanson struck out 12 batters and walked three while tossing a one-hit shutout as the White Sox cruised in the opener.

Leadoff hitter Andrew Baumgart was 3-for-4 with a two-run triple and three runs scored.

Drake Kuno had an two-run double and Spencer Stock added an RBI two-bagger.

Watertown scored single runs in the first, third and fourth frames before putting up an eight-spot in the fifth.

Brayton Mack had the Bombers Gray’s lone hit. Gavin Fixsen walked twice.

Fixsen took the loss after giving up 11 runs – only two earned – on 10 hits and three walks with four strikeouts in five innings.

Game 2

• Watertown 12, Brookings 7 (6 inn.)

The White Sox scored seven runs in the first inning and led 9-1 through two en route to the win.

Logan Jenc had two hits and three RBIs, while Carson Hansmann totaled two hits and two RBIs. Connor Hanson (one RBI) doubled and singled; Aiden Roth singled twice; and Drake Kuno doubled.

Eli Hight pitched all six innings to earn the win.

Brookings’ Gavin Klinkhammer went 2-for-2 with an RBI. Davis Engen (double) was 2-for-2 and Gavin Fixsen 2-for-4 as both players scored twice.

Brayton Mack singled and drove in a pair of runs. Max Hoppe (single), Braden Clifford and Garrett Bothe each added an RBI.

Bothe took the loss on the mound.
