Wayne L. Benz, 89, of Mitchell, died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2018, at Tieszen Memorial Home in Marion.
Funeral services are at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, 2018, at the Bittner Funeral Chapel in Mitchell. Visitation is one hour prior to the funeral. Burial is at Graceland Cemetery in Mitchell.
Wayne LeRoy Benz was born Sept. 3, 1929, to John Frederick Carl Benz and Laura Mae (Zipse) Benz in Brookings. He attended schools at rural Brookings and Kingbury counties.
On June 19, 1965, he married Lois Winnifred Mundorf in Mission and the couple moved to Winner. He was a trucker for Grossenberg Implement. In 1978 he moved to Mitchell, where he worked for the Davison County Highway Department until his retirement in 1995. He worked part time for JD Concrete until 2001.
Wayne was survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
