BROOKINGS – There’s been all sorts of spooky fun at the home of Carol Ann Klug at 816 Eighth Ave. in Brookings since this past weekend.
Klug has been hosting a haunted house at her home for the past 11 years during the Halloween season.
Klug, below, will be busy handing out candy to trick-or-treaters tonight, but the haunted house is back open for business from 3-5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Above, Klug’s dining room has been transformed into a skeletal celebration for a “Wedding Too Late,” and below, scientist Juanita Kant, South Dakota State College electrical engineer Anne Straw and Wendy Jo, the wacky weatherwoman, gather for a witches’ meeting at the house.
Klug started her haunted house tradition back in the mid-1980s with her husband, and about 500 people attended each year.
Relatives, friends and neighbors pitch in each year to help make the attraction a success. Klug says the inside of the house is appropriate for kids 6 years and older, but the outside is great for everyone.
