CLOQUET, Minn. – The MN Wilderness defeated the Blizzard 5-4 in a shootout for the second consecutive night, completing the NAHL Central Division weekend sweep Saturday at Northwoods Credit Union Arena.

Brookings pulled its goalie with a little more than half a minute remaining and Josh Boyer’s goal – assisted by Brendan Aird and Max Sasson – with 1 second showing on the clock tied the score at 4-all and forced overtime.

Both teams failed on their first three attempts in the shootout.

Following another Brookings miss, the Wilderness’ fourth shooter, Gino Lucia, found the back of the net to seal the deal.

Minnesota led 1-0 early on C.J. Regula’s goal, before Brookings countered with back-to-back goals by Doug Larson – the second coming on a power play. Edward Lindelow pulled the Wilderness even with a power-play tally of his own.

In the second, Ben Ward and Lendelow lit the lamp to put the hosts ahead 4-2. Parker Revering cut the deficit in half late in the period.

Lucia finished with three assists and Luke Dow two.

Brookings’ Brendan Aird tallied a pair of helpers.

Jacob Sibell made 22 saves for the Wilderness (24-18-2-2, 52 points).

Adam Brizgala stopped 26 shots in the loss.

Brookings (17-23-2-4, 40 points) picked up one point.

The teams face off again Friday and Saturday at 7:05 p.m. at Larson Ice Center in Brookings.
