Wilderness blank Blizzard, 3-0

BROOKINGS – Despite outshooting the Wilderness, 26-18, the Blizzard couldn’t get one past Ryan Fanti in a 3-0 Central Division loss on Friday night at Larson Ice Center.

Aaron Myers lit the lamp with 20 seconds to play in the first period off an Ondrej Trejbal setup before the visitors added two more goals in the second period for the final margin.

Ryan Nelson found the back of the net with 12:18 to play as Dylan Johnson earned the assist, and then, Nick Portz scored off setups from Ashton Altmann and Jack Johnson.

Fanti earned the shutout win with 26 saves while George McBey had 12 saves on 15 shots over the first two frames and Luc Haggist stopped all three shots that he faced in the third.

The two teams square off tonight at 7:05 at LIC.

The Wilderness improved to 24-26-31-2 while Brookings dropped to 10-40-3-1.
