Williams recognized by CAP

BROOKINGS – Abigail Williams of Egan has completed Achievement 9 in the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) youth program. Her accomplishment is a major step toward promotion to Cadet 1st Lieutenant upon completion of Achievement 10. Williams also recently earned the prestigious CAP Billy Mitchell Award.  

Williams serves as cadet commander, training officer, communications officer and emergency services Officer within Big Sioux Composite Squadron. She is active in the CAP Emergency Services program, serving as mission scanner, mission radio operator, and as an urban direction-finding team member. 

The CAP youth program, known as the Cadet Program, develops young leaders, ages 12 and up. Cadet members are challenged and rewarded with the confidence, self-worth, and accomplishment that comes from rising to the occasion and making a real and measurable difference. 

Big Sioux Composite Squadron meets every Thursday at 6:30 p.m at 413 W. Second St. S., Brookings, 57006.

The wing can deploy its six aircraft, ground teams, and small search drones to assist in emergency response and other support to local, state, tribal and federal agencies.
