Wings beat Blizzard 7-3

ABERDEEN – Peter Morgan notched a hat trick as the NAHL Central Division-leading Wings beat the Blizzard for the third time in five days, winning 7-3 on Tuesday evening at Odde Ice Center.

Morgan scored his first goal on an assist from Jack Powell 35 seconds into the game and his second on assists from Brad Belisle and John Sladic to make it 2-0 after a period.

Riley Murphy and Shawn Kennedy lit the lamp in the second period. Matt Kirwan assisted on the first goal and Jonathan Bendorf and Pierson Brandon on the second.

Morgan completed the hat trick early in the third. Max Salpeter was credited with the assist. Connor Beatty scored on a Kennedy assist with 9:31 remaining to push the margin to 6-0.

Sam Antenucci found the back of the net with 8:14 to go to get Brookings on the board. Ryan Green assisted. Brock Draeger added an unassisted tally 17 seconds later.

Kirwan’s unassisted goal with 3:09 left made it 7-2.

Brookings native Carter Krogman netted a goal with 1:56 showing on the clock to provide for the final margin.

Connor Close recorded 29 saves for Aberdeen (23-5-1-1, 48 points). The Blizzard’s Jack Caruso stopped 36 shots.

Brookings (3-27-1-1, 8 points) is host to Austin on Friday at 7:05 p.m. at Larson Ice Center.
