The Brookings 13U and 14U baseball teams kicked off their seasons on Thursday night.
The 13U Bombers Red swept Yankton on the road and the 14U Bombers Black had a tie and a loss to Yankton in Brookings.
Bombers Red
Brookings came away with 10-3 and 13-9 victories on Thursday.
In the first game the Bombers scored nine runs in the first inning and that led to the seven-run victory. Ben Schulte went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and Baker Hanson went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Jude Meendering went 2-for-3 and Mason Diers went 1-for-2.
In the second game the Bombers led 12-2 heading into the bottom of the fifth and the Bucks cut the lead to 12-9. Brookings added an insurance run in the sixth and came away with the four-run victory.
Dixon Dauer went 1-for-3 with four RBIs and Meendering went 3-for-3 with an RBI. Hanson and Nolan Krogman each went 1-for-2 with an RBI and Noah Lease went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Bombers Red hosts Watertown today in a doubleheader that begins at 1 p.m.
Bombers Black
Brookings fell behind 5-0 in the first game and three runs in the in the sixth tied the game at 6-6. Each team then scored a run in the seventh and the game was called a tie due to time.
Cooper Schneider went 3-for-3 with an RBI and Charlie Richter went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Parker Witte and Maxten Jensent each went 1-for-4.
The Bombers then loss the second game 6-2. Yankton led 2-1 heading into the fifth inning and then scored four runs to put the game on ice.
Jensen went 1-for-3 with an RBI. Parker Nielsen had the other hit for Brookings as he went 1-for-2.
Bombers Black plays at Sioux Falls Post 15 on June 7. It will be a doubleheader that begins at 5 p.m.
