The Brookings High School marching percussion competed on Feb. 4 at the Minnesota Percussion Association event in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. They performed their show, “Age of Invention,” and took first place in the Percussion Scholastic Regional A class. This was the first competition of the season, so they are off to a great start.

BROOKINGS — The Swiftel Center’s 2022 Tough Enough to Wear Pink campaign proved that united we stand in the fight against breast cancer.
The December VFW Auxiliary Third Sunday Breakfast took place Dec. 18.
The George Dokken No. 2118 VFW Auxiliary held the drawing for its holiday raffle that ended on Dec. 11. First place for the drawing was for a handcrafted wine rack by local artisan Kevin Price, second and third prizes were necklaces donated by Riddle’s Jewelry and Wink’s Jewelry.
Although there is still some snow on the ground, this seemed like a fitting time to talk about alternative grazing opportunities.

BROOKINGS — Erick Rangel, the city’s chief financial officer, is resigning after four years in the position. His resignation will be effective as of Friday.
BROOKINGS — Joe Santos, director of South Dakota State University’s Ness School of Management and Economics where he leads the Dykhouse Program in Money, Banking and Regulation, was invited to discuss economic conditions for South Dakota at the 2023 Regional Economic Conditions Conference.
