Four members of the Brookings Bobcats and 14 total area runners were named to the SDHSAA Academic All-State Cross Country Team on Tuesday afternoon.
To qualify for the team, the runners must be a senior with a 3.5 grade point average or higher that has competed in the sport for three years and were nominated by their head coach.
Jonathan Kahler, Ernest Ting, Alex Diersen and Josie Nold represented Brookings on this year’s team.
Kahler finished in 19th place with a time of 16:50.25 at Saturday’s Class AA State Meet while Diersen finished 28th with a time of 17:04.58 and Ting finished 29th with a time of 17:08.21.
Nold finished 85th at the girls’ State Meet with a time of 22:12.29.
Flandreau had seven representatives on this year’s team including Diamond Roy, Abe Streitz, Josie Hamilton, Brenton Westberry, Daniel Hobbie, Emma Keith and Ben Kulm.
Arlington’s Ellisyn Vincent, Oldham-Ramona/Rutland’s Zyd Anderson and Sioux Valley’s Isabelle Bloker also made the team which was made up of 169 athletes across South Dakota.
