Thirty-two area basketball players were honored by the Dakota Valley Conference on Wednesday.

The 32 players are represented by seven schools. Two area coaches took home awards as well.

Dozens of Brookings-area basketball players honored by Dakota Valley Conference

Thirty-two area basketball players were honored by the Dakota Valley Conference on Wednesday.

The 32 players are represented by seven schools. Two area coaches took home awards as well.

Girls

Sixteen girls were honored by the DVC. Colman-Egan’s Brynlee Landis was named the Most Valuable Player for the conference. Deubrook Area’s Brad DeBeer was named the Coach of the Year after leading the Dolphins to an 18-5 record and their first State Tournament appearance in school history.

Landis was joined by Arlington’s Jaelyn Huntimer and Deubrook’s Mataya Gouws on the All-DVC First Team.

Oldham-Ramona-Rutland’s Bailey Hyland, Colman-Egan’s Kaylee Voelker and Deubrook’s Matte Bauman were named to the All-DVC Second Team. Deubrook’s Kylee Johnson, Iroquois/Lake Preston’s Hadlee Holt and Arlington’s Ellisyn Vincent were named to the All-DVC Third Team.

Arlington’s Sony Johnson, Colman-Egan’s Jolie Flatten, Deubrook’s Zoey Molengraaf, Elkton-Lake Benton’s Andrea Renkly, Estelline/Hendricks’ Ayla Texley, Iroquois/Lake Preston’s Kera Dubro and Oldham-Ramona-Rutland’s Brooklyn Riedel were honorable mentions.

Colman-Egan won the DVC regular season title. The Hawks went 19-3 overall and 9-0 in the conference. Deubrook tied with Dell Rapids St. Mary for second as both teams went 7-2 in the DVC.

Boys

Sixteen players from area teams were honored on the boys’ side as well.

Elkton-Lake Benton’s Tanner Drietz was the lone area player on the All-DVC First Team. Iroquois/Lake Preston’s Lucas Peskey, Estelline/Hendricks’ Wyat James, Colman-Egan’s Jase Mousel and Estelline/Hendricks’ Kyer Carson were named to the All-DVC Second Team.

Deubrook’s Isaac Gass and Chance Schoenfeld and Colman-Egan’s Jackson Zwart and Jack Mousel were named to the All-DVC Third Team. Arlington’s Paxton Rheault, Colman-Egan’s Caden Zwart, Deubrook’s Braxton Bednarek, Estelline/Hendricks’ Matthew McAninch, Elkton-Lake Benton’s Joseph Nibbe, Iroquois/Lake Preston’s Daunte Glanzer and Oldham-Ramona-Rutland’s Boyd Pooler were all honorable mentions.

Estelline/Hendricks’ Andy Hansen was named the DVC Coach of the Year. He led the Redhawks to a 16-5 overall record and a 6-3 record in conference play.

Dell Rapid St. Mary’s Trevon Beckman was named the DVC Most Valuable Player. Castlewood won the conference regular season championship with a 9-0 record in conference play. The Warriors are 21-2 overall.
