AUSTIN, Texas — South Dakota State linebacker Adam Bock was named Tuesday to the 2024 Division I Academic All-America Football Second Team as selected by the College Sports Communicators.
A native of Solon, Iowa, Bock completed his collegiate career this past fall by leading the Jackrabbits in tackles with 102. He was a four-year starter and racked up the second most tackles in program history with 446.
In the classroom, Bock compiled a 3.83 grade-point average as an undergraduate and has posted a 3.85 GPA as a graduate student in mechanical engineering. Earlier this month, he was honored as a member of the Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association’s Academic All-Start Team and is one of 10 finalists for an FCS ADA $5,000 Postgraduate Scholarship.
With Bock’s selection, South Dakota State has had at least one student-athlete honored on the Academic All-America Team in 18 of the last 20 seasons and a total of 47 selections since 1974. The Division I squad is made up of student-athletes who compete in both the Football Bowl and Football Championship subdivisions.
The Academic All-America program, sponsored by the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA), recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Candidates, who are first nominated and honored at the district level, must be at least a sophomore in athletic and academic standing, a starter or key reserve on his team and carry at least a 3.5 GPA.
