Beth Ann Overby, age 74, of Hendricks, MN formerly of Toronto, SD, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 4, 2025, at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 10, 2025 at Leganger Lutheran Church in Toronto, SD, with Rev. Katie Pauly officiating. Burial will be in the Wood Lake Lutheran Cemetery, rural Astoria, SD. Visitation will be 5 - 7 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, at Leganger Lutheran Church in Toronto, SD and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Houseman Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
Beth Ann Overby was born in Clear Lake, SD on Oct. 21, 1950, to Morris and Lavona (Brezee) Dokken. She was raised near Astoria (Fish Lake), SD, where she graduated from Astoria High School in 1968.
She was married June 16, 1979, to Dale Overby in Watertown, SD. Together they were married for 45 years and lived with love and devotion while they raised their seven children: Lynn, Tony, Cary, Lana, Morrey, Shane and Becki. Beth attended South Dakota State University for a short time and then worked multiple jobs including The Bank of Toronto, First National Bank of Brookings, owning Overby Food Mart for 17 years and Deuel County Farmers Union, where she retired in December 2024. She loved working and building friendships through all occupations in life.
A few things that made Beth smile were golfing, making people laugh, cooking/baking, playing cards, attending grandkids sporting events and entertaining family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Dale Overby; seven children: Lynn Jurrens, Watertown, SD, Tony Jurrens, Marshall, MN, Cary (Jenny) Jurrens, Minneota, MN, Lana (Trever)Schwartz, White, SD, Morrey (Jill) Overby, Parkston, SD, Shane (Amber) Overby, Brookings, SD, Becki (Jeremy) Beer, Hendricks, MN; grandchildren: Carter Jurrens, Camryn Jurrens, Candra Ziemer, Kennedi Jurrens, Keaton Jurrens, Grayson Jurrens, Hadley Jurrens, Anna Brennen, Avery Winter, Charlie Winter, Eddie Winter, Joe Winter, Dylan Schwartz (Brooke), Morgan Sommervold (Cody), Denton Schwartz (Madalyn), Aiden Overby, Brody Overby, Brexten Overby, Harper Overby, Beckett Overby, Boone Overby, Lydia Beer, Nolan Beer, Taysom Beer; great-grandchildren: Nova Schwartz, Beau Schwartz, Kase Schwartz, Layla Sommervold, Ellie Sommervold. Her sister Gail Kvernmoe, Astoria, SD; and sister-in-law, Ruth Dokken, Omaha, NE.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Roger Dokken.
