BROOKINGS — The Brookings Bombers Red 13U baseball team held a lead late but a four-run rally in the top of the sixth inning helped Volga Select 14U earn a 9-6 victory on Monday afternoon.

Volga added another run on a fielder’s choice in the top of the fourth inning but Brookings made its way back in the bottom of the fourth.

Burzlaff started the rally with a one-out single before advancing to second base on a passed ball and to third base on a single by Mason Burghardt. Burghart advanced to second base on defensive indifference and Hayden Jones cashed in with an RBI single to cut the lead down to 5-2.

Cooper Drawdy smashed a two-run double to make it a 5-4 game before Ty Delbridge reached on an error that allowed Drawdy to score and tie the game at 5-5. After a scoreless top of the fifth inning, Carter Nielsen walked and scored on Jennings Huntimer’s triple to give Brookings a 6-5 lead going into the sixth inning.
