BRUCE — A malfunctioning dehumidifier in a home southwest of Bruce triggered a blaze on Wednesday afternoon that caused an estimated $85,000 in damage.
There were no injuries in the incident, Brookings County Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring wrote in a Thursday news release. It occurred at 4:43 p.m. at a residence on 205th Street near 465th Avenue. Sebring told the Brookings Register that he didn’t think the home was a total loss.
Fire departments from Bruce and Volga responded, and the sheriff’s office is continuing its investigation of the fire, Sebring wrote.
