WHITE — No injuries were reported in a vehicle fire on Saturday that occurred just east of White, according to a Monday news release from the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident, which occurred at 10:26 a.m. on state Highway 30 near 479th Avenue, destroyed the vehicle, Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring said in the release. He added that damage estimates, including for the roadway itself, are still being calculated.

The 2008 Buick Enclave was being driven west on Highway 30 when the driver heard what sounded like an explosion from under the vehicle, according to information in the release. The driver then pulled over and the vehicle became engulfed in flames. Firefighting crews from Bruce, White and Toronto were able to quickly extinguish the fire.

The sheriff’s office will continue to investigate the incident, Sebring wrote.
