BROOKINGS — Strong middle quarters lifted the Brookings girls’ basketball team over Sioux Falls Lincoln on Thursday night.
Brookings trailed 9-7 at the end of the first quarter. The Bobcats then outscored the Patriots 22-13 in the second quarter and took a 29-22 lead into the locker room. The success continued in the third quarter as Brookings had a 22-5 advantage in the third and had a 51-27 lead heading into the fourth. Lincoln outscored Brookings 12-9 in the final frame.
Brookings shot 36.5% from the field and was 11-of-32 from three. The Bobcats were led by Macy Even who had 17 points. Logan Smidt had 13 points and five rebounds. Sloan McLagan had 11 points.
Lincoln shot 29.2% from the field and was 6-of-15 from three. The Patriots were led by Kierra Lubovich who had 21 points and nine rebounds.
The Patriots won the rebound battle 37-32. Brookings was 11-of-14 at the free throw line and Lincoln was 11-of-14. The Bobcats had 14 turnovers and the Patriots had 15.
Brookings is now 9-5 and hosts Sioux Falls Roosevelt on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
