HARRISBURG — The Brookings track and field teams competed in the Eastern South Dakota Conference Meet on Saturday.
The Bobcat boys finished in sixth place and the Brookings girls came in ninth place. Brandon Valley won on the boys’ side and Harrisburg took home the girls title.
Brookings will compete in the Wendelgass Relays in Huron on Thursday at 2 p.m.
Brookings had one individual winner and one relay victory on the boys’ side. Jon Kahler won the 800 meter run with a time of one minute and 57.99 seconds. The team of Trevin Lounsbury, Ernest Ting, Shane Harming and Kahler won the 4x800 relay (8:05.87).
Charlie Bisgard, Gus Armenta, Weston Baker and Shane Harming finished in second in the sprint medley relay (3:47.26). Lounsbury, Kahler, Ting and Cole Hockett came in third in the 4x400 relay (3:28.54).
Ting came in third in the 800 (2:01.19) and Lounsbury finished in fourth in the 1600 (4:33.46). Dylan Haar came in sixth in the 3200 (10:07.38) and Cole Hockett came in sixth in the 400 (52.33).
Alex Wainman finished in third in the javelin with a throw of 159 feet and six inches. He also came in ninth in the high jump (5-09.00). Bisgard came in second in the long jump (21-09.00). Bergan Tetzlaff came in seventh in the javelin (146-03) and Mason Mathis finished in 10th in the same event (142-02).
Kennedy Ronning had three top-10 finishes on the girls’ side. She came in seventh in the 100 meter dash (12.66) and 10th in the 200 (12.66). Ronning also came in sixth in the pole vault (10-06.00).
Kendis Sackreiter finished in third in the shot put (40-09.75) and seventh in the discus (109-03). Logan Smidt came in fourth in the javelin (113-07) and 10th in the shot put (33-06.00). Clara Delbridge came in eighth in the shot put (33-06.00).
Brookings had one top-five finish in the relay races. Grace Vostad, Tessa Connot, Ella Miller and Kaylie Kuehl came in fifth in the sprint medley relay (4:33.11).
