The Brookings girls’ basketball season came to an end on Friday night as the Bobcats lost to Mitchell 48-30 in the Class AA SoDak 16.

Bobcats fall to Mitchell in SoDak 16

MITCHELL — The Brookings girls’ basketball season came to an end on Friday night as the Bobcats lost to Mitchell 48-30 in the Class AA SoDak 16.

The No. 6 seeded Kernels pulled away from the No. 11 seeded Bobcats in the second half on Friday. 

Brookings led 8-7 at the end of the first quarter. The Bobcats were then outscored 15-9 in the second quarter and trailed 22-17 at halftime. Mitchell extended the lead to 36-24 by the end of the third quarter and then outscored Brookings 12-6 in the final quarter.

Macy Even led the Bobcats with 11 points. Sloan McLagan had six points and Kymber Buys had five.

Addie Siemsen had 15 points to lead Mitchell. Lauren Van Overschelde had nine points and Londyn Hajek had eight points. CeCe Morgan had seven points and Kenzie Peterson had six.

The Kernels had 29 rebounds and the Bobcats had 29.

Brookings finished the season with a record of 10-11.
