WATERTOWN — The Brookings Bobcats finished in 14th place in the Class AA State Boys Golf Tournament at Cattail Crossing Golf Course in Watertown on Tuesday afternoon.
The Bobcats shot a total of 655 after shooting 339 as a team on Tuesday. Teammates Issak Earley and Rhys Heiberger tied for 60th as they shot a total of 163. Earley shot an 85 Tuesday and Heiberger shot an 84.
Jase Bauer shot an 87 on Tuesday and he tied for 65th with a total of 164. Andrew Heinze was right behind Bauer as he shot a total of 165 after firing an 83 on Tuesday. Tyson Lunn tied for 85th with a total of 172 after shooting a 90 in round two and Mason Diers tied for 92nd with an 89 on Tuesday for a total of 175.
Watertown was the team state champion as the Arrows shot a total of 569. Pierre came in second (570) and the Governors edged out Harrisburg who finished in third (571). Brandon Valley finished in fourth (586) and O’Gorman came in fifth (589).
Watertown’s Ty Lenards beat out Tea Area’s Derek Anderson in a playoff to win the individual title. Each golfer shot a total 136. Harrisburg’s Charlie Swift came in third (139) and Harrisburg’s Riley Christensen, O’Gorman’s Taten Mauney and Pierre’s Nicklaus Bothun each tied for fourth (141).
