BROOKINGS — The Brookings boys’ tennis team opened the 2025 season with three duals over the weekend and came away with one win.
The Bobcats were beaten by Brandon Valley and O’Gorman on Friday but then bounced back with a win over Rapid City Central on Saturday. Brookings will host a triangular on Tuesday and the first match will begin at 11 a.m. at the Hillcrest Tennis Courts.
Carson Kreie was the closest to getting a win in the dual against Brandon Valley. He lost to Travis Rouberry 10-6 in the third flight. In the No. 1 singles match Eli Woidyla beat Zach Mueller 10-0. In the No. 2 match Will Jensen beat Braylon Peters 10-1.
Ryley McKown took down Brodie McCarty 10-3 in the No. 4 match. Sanders Anshutz beat Andrew Hahn 10-5 in the No. 5 match and Titan Gross topped Xavier St. Pierre 10-4 in the No. 6 match.
In the No. 1 doubles match Woidyla and Jensen beat Peters and Kreie 10-0. In the No. 2 match Gavin Stone and McKown beat Mueller and McCarty 10-7. Hahn and St. Pierre fell to Anshutz and Gross 10-7 in the No. 3 match.
Will Koziara beat Mueller 10-0 in the No. 1 singles match. In the No. 2 match Johnny McDowell topped JC St. Pierre. Kreie lost to August Jackson 10-0 in the No. 3 match and McCarty fell to Ben Pekas in the No. 4 match 10-1. Finn Canfield beat Hahn 10-1 in the No. 5 match and Reid Oakland topped Xavier St. Pierre in the No. 6 match 10-3.
JC St. Pierre and Kreie lost to Koziara and McDowell 10-0 in the No. 1 doubles match. In the No. 2 doubles match Jackson and Canfield beat Mueller and McCarty 10-2. Hahn and Xavier St. Pierre lost to Oakland and Pekas 10-2.
The Bobcats finally were on the winning side on Saturday with seven victories.
Kreie beat Triston Ducheneaux 10-9 and won the final set 8-6 in the No. 3 singles match. In the No. 4 match McCarty beat Greysun Weston 10-0. Hahn topped Cade Jandreau 10-6 in the No. 5 match and Xavier St. Pierre beat Rory Murphy 10-1 in the No. 6 match. Mueller fell to Anson Griffin 10-2 in the No. 1 match and JC St. Pierre lost to Peyton Taylor 10-0 in the No. 2 match.
JC St. Pierre and Kreie beat Griffin and Weston 10-8 in the No. 1 doubles match. Mueller and McCarty topped Taylor and Ducheneaux 10-4. Hahn and Xavier St. Pierre closed things out with a 10-4 win over Jandreau and Murphy in the No. 3 doubles match.
