Bobcats top Deuel in Clear Lake

CLEAR LAKE — The Brookings gymnastics team defeated Deuel in dual on Monday night. The Bobcats took the dual by the score of 138.450-131.800.

Brookings had a score of 35.050 on the vault, while the Cardinals had a score of 34.350. Layla Erickson came in first place for the Bobcats in the vault with a score of 9.150. Kennedy Ronning came in second place for Brookings with a score of 8.800. Deuel’s Hannah Cutshaw and Laycee Anderson finished in third and fourth with scores of 8.750 and 8.650, respectively. Brookings’ Ava Petterson rounded out the top five with a score of 8.600.

Brookings had a score of 34.400 in the uneven bars and Deuel had a score of 31.100. Erickson came in first place in this event as well with a score of 8.900. Brooklyn Ballis came in second for Brookings with a score of 8.750 and Ronning finished in third with a score of 8.700. Cutshaw and Anderson came tied for fourth with a score of 8.300.

The Bobcats had a score of 34.000 on the balance beam and the Cardinals had a score of 32.600. Erickson came in first again with a score of 9.050. Cutshaw came in second (9.000), Ronning came in third (8.500) and Lexi Norgaard of Brookings finished in fourth (8.300). Anderson rounded out the top five (8.250).

Brookings had a score of 35.000 in the floor exercise and Deuel had a score of 33.750. Cutshaw came in first for the Cardinals with a score of 9.200. Erickson finished in second (8.950) and Ronning came in third (8.850). Anderson came in fourth (8.700) and Petterson and Norgaard tied for fifth (8.600).

Erickson won the all around with a score of 36.050. Cutshaw came in second (32.250) and Ronning finished in third (34.850). Anderson came in fourth (33.900) and Petterson rounded out the top five (33.000).

Brookings will host its home invitational on Saturday at 10 a.m. Teams competing will include the Bobcats, Harrisburg, Sioux Falls Roosevelt, O’Gorman and Sioux Falls Jefferson.
