Brett Marcus Newman, 57, went to his eternal home on Sunday, Feb. 2,2025, with family by his side.
Brett was born in Lake Andes, SD, to Dale and Darlene Newman and lived on the family farm.
He loved animals, (best friend Topo and later Lucky) tinkering with mechanical devices (started his own fix-it business in HS), fishing, hunting, and NASCAR.
Brett had a kind and gentle heart and loved to help people. He had a great sense of humor and a memory for everything.
Brett enlisted into the Army. During his service, he proudly rose the ranks to Staff Sargent, E6. Deployment included Croatia (1995-1996) and Somalia (2003).
He received his bachelor’s degree in SDSU, Brookings, SD.
After college, Brett met his wife Jacqueline, in March 2007 and they resided in Copperas Cove, TX. He had a stepson, David Kopp and a Godson, Christian Fulmer.
Brett is preceded in death by his mother and father. He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline, his sister Daylene (Newman) Tobin, one uncle, and many, many cousins.
A visitation for Brett was held Sunday, Feb. 9, from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home, 1615 South Fort Hood Road, Killeen, TX 765421654.
He will be entered into eternal rest at the Black Hills National Cemetery with Honors in Sturgis, SD where his father, Dale C. Newman also rests on Friday, Feb. 14, at 10:30 a.m.
