Excitement, purpose found in February

February was a mix of fun, competition, and giving back at the Brookings Activity Center.

We kicked things off with a Marshmallow Catapult Challenge, where teams tested their skills to see who could launch closest to the bullseye.

The fun continued with a life-sized Candyland Adventure at the Goody Gumdrop Party, bringing plenty of laughter. Later in the month, members got an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the Larson Ice Center, learning about the science behind maintaining the perfect ice.

To wrap up the month, we came together for a meaningful project, assembling laundry kits for The Salvation Army to support those in need. February was filled with excitement and purpose, and there’s even more to look forward to.

We’re excited to kick off weekly pickleball at Fifth Street Gym, giving members a fun way to stay active. Plus, don’t miss our health fair on March 28 from 10 a.m. to noon, open to the public and packed with valuable wellness resources. There’s always something happening — join us for the fun.

Health workshop series at activity center

The activity center will host a free six-week workshop series for adults and/or caregivers with COPD, diabetes, arthritis, high blood pressure, or any other chronic health condition. The series is offered by SDSU Extension’s Better Choices, Better Health SD Program.

Come to the activity center on March 26 at 12:30 p.m. for a “Session Zero Presentation" where you learn about the program, get to know each other and the program leaders.
