The Brookings Rangers earned a weekend sweep, defeating Yankton 4-2 on Saturday night and Mitchell 6-3 on Sunday.
The Rangers improved to 4-1-0 on the year and will return to action when they travel to face the Watertown Lakers on Dec. 20.
YANKTON — Carson Kludt opened the scoring with his third goal of the season, assisted by Nolan Krogman and Jackson Heller with 13:10 left in the first period. Jason Ready extended the lead with his fourth goal of the year from Luke Honkomp on the power play with 16:43 left in the second period before Cooper Deatherage scored an unassisted goal with 1:18 left to send Brookings into the second intermission up 3-0.
Kylen O’Connor scored a shorthanded goal for the Bucks with 6:32 left in the game and Maxwell Weisenburger scored with an assist from Tucker Renken to make it a 5:05 to play. But Riley Linstad scored an empty netter with 16 seconds to go to secure the win.
Brookings out-shot the Bucks 34-26. Matthew Bothe made 32 saves for the Rangers.
MITCHELL — The Rangers took a 2-0 lead after Carson Kludt scored from Krogman and Cody Jacobson with 13:55 left in the first period and Linstad scored from Honkomp and Tre Christopherson with 13:16 left in the first period.
The Rangers alternated goals with the Marlins from there as Parker Denne scored an unassisted goal for the Marlins with 6:58 left in the first period, Heller scored from Honkomp and Jay Harris with 11:32 left in the second period and Denne scored an unassisted goal with 5:50 left in the second period.
Brookings put the game away with three straight goals to open the third period, however, with Cooper Deatherage scoring from Cade Zweber with 9:40 to play, Linstad scoring from Talon Hyde and Harris on the power play with 5:54 to go and Linstad scoring a power play goal from Honkomp and Hyde with 2:12 remaining.
Mitchell’s Lukas Jerke scored a power play goal from Denne with 1:04 left in the third period to cap the scoring.
The Rangers out-shot the Marlins 50-21. Ryder Anderson made 18 saves for Brookings.
