BROOKINGS — Trevor Healy of Brookings has been awarded a scholarship through the Butler/Cat ThinkBig program.
Through the program Healy will receive an $8,500 scholarship to attend Lake Area Technical College in Watertown. He will be a half-time student and half-time worker at the Butler CAT dealership in Watertown. He has entered a three-year work agreement at ButlerCAT and will be paired up with a mentor to put what they have learned in real life work. As part of the agreement, he will also receive a free laptop for his school work.
With Caterpillar’s ThinkBIG program at Butler Machinery, students are able to earn a degree while gaining real-world experience with equipment.
Students will receive two years of state-of-the- art training in the classroom and in the shop while earning an associate of applied science degree in diesel technology with an official Caterpillar endorsement.
