MANHEIM, Pa. — Returning All-American Cade DeVos has been added to the Nov. 16 NWCA All-Star Classic, representing South Dakota State alongside Tanner Jordan.
For the second year in a row, the Jackrabbits will have two wrestlers selected for the NWCA All-Star Classic. In 2023-24, All-Americans Tanner Sloan and Clay Carlson were selected to compete in the event, but Carlson eventually had to drop out because of an injury.
DeVos steps in to replace Ohio State’s Rocco Welsh and will take on Penn State’s Levi Haines, who moved up from 157 pounds to 174 pounds this year. The bout will take place at 174 pounds. DeVos went 28-3 last year overall and 15-1 in duals on his way to his fourth consecutive NCAA qualification. He finished fifth at 174 pounds at the NCAA Tournament with a win over Columbia’s Lennox Wolak, garnering the first All-American honors of his collegiate career.
Haines went 23-0 in 2023-24 with Penn State and 12-0 in duals. He won his second Big 10 Championship at 157 pounds, and one year after being the national runner-up at 157 pounds, he took home the title in 2023-24. He was named the Big 10 Freshman of the Year in 2023.
FloWrestling ranks DeVos as the No. 3 wrestler at 174 pounds, while Haines is currently ranked the No. 2 wrestler at 174 pounds.
DeVos will wrestle alongside Tanner Jordan at the All-Star Classic. Jordan, ranked no. 5 in FloWrestling and InterMat’s poll, will go up against Wyoming’s Jore Volk, ranked No. 2 at 125 pounds. Jordan went 1-2 against Volk in 2023-24, winning their first match by decision before dropping the next two, including the seventh-place match at the NCAA Championships. He is 1-3 against Volk in his collegiate career.
The exhibition event is scheduled for 7 p.m. Eastern Time (6 p.m. Central) on Nov. 16 at Rec Hall on the campus of Penn State University. It will feature 10 highly ranked Division 1 folkstyle matchups and 5 cross-divisional women’s freestyle matches. The event will be available for viewing through FloWrestling.org.
